Mama Q's offers a cozy, relaxed, inviting dining experience with a variety of menu items to sure to satisfy any tastes. Drawing on her Mexican heritage, the cooking styles of Memphis TN, and her Arkansas upbringing; Mama Q,(Kim Quintero), set out to bring true razorback BBQ to Charleston. With her family recipes, she shares her love of simple yet delicious Tex-Mex cuisine at reasonable prices, in a neighborhood style, relaxed atmosphere. Kim definitely accomplished this goal in Mama Q's Kitchen. Restaurants pop up every day in Charleston, but what sets this establishment apart is the all-natural cooking and unique combinations that Kim produces. From her slow smoked Q-dusted pork to delicious burger combinations; along with vegetarian choices and fresh, healthy salads, you too will be craving the "Q"!"

How long have you been in business?
We have been in business just over a year now.
What is your primary product or service?
Fantastic food in a wonderful small comfortable spot on Johns island.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have always wanted to have my own restaurant.
I have been cooking for friends and family for years. I just love to prepare great food and watch customers smile and really enjoy what I prepare.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Mama Q's is a small cozy resturant on Johns Island. We are not fancy, just dedicated to serving great food. I prepare food I always want to enjoy.
There are wonderful gourmet restaurants all over the area but we are the only one who has Q dusted ridgerunner bbq!
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Right now just the one. We would love to expand in another year or so.

We get customers from everywhere, but mainly Johns Island, Wadmalaw, Charleston, James Island, Seabrook and Kiawah.

Kim Quintero is the primary owner and Mary Jo Conway maintains the books and advertising.
What are your hours of operation?
Tuesday thru Saturday we are open for lunch. Wednesday thru Saturday we are open for lunch and dinner.

Repeat customers returning with family and friends.
